The New York University women's soccer team, led by senior co-captain Cami Crawford's University Athletic Association (UAA) record-tying four goals, took down #5 Washington University-St. Louis 4-3 on Sunday, November 2, in St. Louis, MO.

"We're so proud of the energy and heart that the players displayed today in order to get the win," said NYU Head Coach Michele Canning. "Cami was unbelievable and we're really excited about the performance today. It's great to get the points on the road."

NYU (11-5-1, 3-2-1 UAA) took the lead quickly in the first half over the Bears (12-3-2, 2-3-1 UAA), who are ranked fifth in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Rankings.

The Violets got two scores from Crawford in less than six minutes. The first came in the 22nd minute, when the Washington goalkeeper misplayed the ball, leaving Crawford with the open net for the goal. The second came in the 28th minute when Lexi Clarke led Crawford with a pass over the Bears' back line for the shot from the top of the box and the score. The Violets took that 2-0 lead into the lockerroom.

Coming out of the break, Crawford went back to work right away. The El Dorado Hills, CA, native took the ball herself and launched a shot to the far right corner of the Washington net in the 53rd minute for the score. The goal marked the senior forward's first-career hat-trick.

The Bears, led by Katie Chandler, made a strong comeback. the sophomore forward scored a pair of unassisted goals for Washington in the 55th and 59th minutes to trim NYU's lead to one at 3-2.

Just over 10 minutes later, Crawford would etch her name in the UAA record books in the 70th minute. The senior launched yet another shot from 30-plus yards out, placing it in the far-right corner of the Bears' net for her UAA single-game-record-tying fourth goal of the contest, putting the Violets up 4-2.

UAA points leader Lillie Toaspern would get Washington on the board once more in the 89th minute, trimming the Violets' lead to one at 4-3, But, NYU held on for the victory. The win is the Violets' first vs. the Bears since then-sophomore Imani Ribadeneyra led NYU to the 1-0 victory on October 14, 2011 over then-#9 Washington at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.

The Violets now sit in sole possession of third place in the UAA standings.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Cassie Steinberg made one save in net for the Violets to earn her 11th victory of the season.

- Crawford and Clarke each attempted a game-high six total shots, while Crawford led all players with five on net. The two were the only players to attempt a shot for NYU.

The Violets will return to the pitch to close out regular-season play on Saturday, November 8, at Gaelic Park when they host Brandeis University on Senior Day. Live stats and live video will be available.
