Results

New York University's men's swimming & diving team defeated The College of New Jersey (179-115) for the first time in six seasons on Saturday, November 15, in Ewing, NJ.

Senior diver Brian Blum recorded his first win of the season in the three-meter competition (285.60) and placed second in the one-meter competition (299.60). Both of his scores were NCAA-qualifiers, while his one-meter score was his second NCAA-cut, qualifying Blum for the NCAA Regional meet in the spring.

"Today was a great day for the divers," said Diving Coach Scott Donie. "It is exciting to have three divers already qualified for the NCAA Regional meet this early in the season. We're looking forward to getting back to work as we prepare for ECAC's."

The Violets are now 6-0 in dual meets this season.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Freshman Austin Palmer won the 500-yard freestyle (4:44.81) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:40.79).

- Sophomore Jason Bo finished first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.78) and the 200 individual medley (1:58.52).

- Senior co-captain Jerry Crowley swept the 50-yard freestyle (20.61), the 100-yard freestyle (45.54) and the 100-yard butterfly (49.56).

- Freshmen Adam Betts and Tim Kou each won an event on Saturday: Betts won the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.24) and Kou won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.59).

- NYU last defeated TCNJ on January 26, 2008 (167.5-132.5).

"I am really happy with our results. As we have been doing all year long, we came to TCNJ ready to race, and we put up some solid performances against one of the top teams in the nation," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "We still have a few more weeks of hard practice before we focus on swimming fast at ECAC Championships."

The Violets' next competition will be at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships Friday-Sunday, December 5-6. The meet will be held in East Meadow, NY, at the Nassau County Aquatics Center.
