Biography

2016-17: Attended NYU, but was not a team member.
 
2015-16: Earned All-America accolades as a member of the Violets’ seventh-place 400-yard medley relay (3:18.62), as well as Honorable Mention All-America in the 200-yard medley relay (1:31.07) and 100-yard backstroke (50.41) at the NCAA Championships (3/16-19)…finished third as a member of NYU’s 400-yard medley relay team at the UAA Championships (2/17-20)…UAA Winter Sport All-Academic…Intercollegiate Athletics Advisory Committee Fall Honor Roll.
 
2014-15: Earned NCAA All-America honors by finishing seventh in the 100-yard backstroke (NYU-record 49.09) and fourth in the 200-yard medley relay (NYU-record 1:29.31), while also achieving NCAA All-America Honorable Mention with a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard back (NYU-record 1:47.23)…also contributed to the Violets’ 400-yard medley relay (NYU-record 3:17.53) at the NCAA Championships (3/18-21)…NYU Male Freshman Athlete of the Year…won the 100-yard back, 200-yard back and 200-yard medley relay in his collegiate debut vs. SUNY Cortland (10/11)…ECAC Metro Rookie of the Week (1/28)…finished third in the 400-yard medley relay (3:20.15) and the 200-yard medley relay (1:30.58) at the UAA Championships (2/11-14)…Intercollegiate Athletics Advisory Committee Fall Honor Roll.
 
High School: Four-year independent swimmer…Second Team All-State honors in 2012 and First Team All-State honors in 2013…national qualifier…received distinguished honors for his GPA…AP Scholar…RI Foreign Language Student of the Year…volunteered as a swim coach…also swam for the Rams Swimming Club and the Shawmut Aquatic Club.
 
Personal: Speaks English, Spanish, French, and Mandarin Chinese…enjoys learning languages, reading, traveling, and trying new restaurants…took a gap year to focus on swimming, where he competed in the USA Swimming Arena Grand Prix Series, as well as various regional and national championships…mother was a diver and father played football at Ohio State University.
