The
#2-ranked New York University men's swimming and diving team opened the season on Saturday, Oct. 10, with a dual meet against the West Chester University Golden Rams.
Despite a competitive meet, West Chester walked away the victors, 141-102.
"Credit to West Chester, their men's team was really strong today and swam really well," said Head Swim Coach
Trevor Miele. "I thought we swam well just three weeks into the season, but this meet gives us a clear picture of where we are and where we need to improve."
After taking second in the opening 400 medley relay, the Violets scored their first win of the meet in the mile freestyle.
Adam Mekrami (16:22.83) beat out teammate
Evan Jue (16:28.78) for the event win.
Misha Kabunov (1:42.59) and
Conner Dean (1:43.31) took second and third, respectively, in the 200 freestyle.

Holden Lahey (236.63) finished in third place.
NYU scored another win in the eighth race of the meet, as

Lahey was just under two points shy of a win in the three-meter dive, finishing in second with a 243.98 finals score.
The Violets scored a win in the final individual race of the day, as
Juan Leon Montiel (2:03.73) led the way in the 200 breaststroke.
The visitors ended the day with a win in the final relay as well, taking the 200 freestyle relay. The team of
