The New York University women's soccer, which ended the regular season with a 11-5-2 overall record and a third-place 3-2-2 mark in the University Athletic Association (UAA), has received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The announcement was made on Monday afternoon, November 10.

The Violets, back in the tournament for the first time since time since advancing to the Sweet 16 during the 2002 season, will face Amherst College in the first round. The Lady Jeff's, who enter the NCAA Tournament with an 11-5 overall record, finished fourth in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

The first-ever meeting between these two schools will take place at #16 Nazareth College, in Rochester, NY, on Saturday, November 15 at 1:30 pm. Live stats and live video will be available. The host Golden Flyers face Worcester State University in the other first-round match-up at 11:00 am, with the winners of the two game meeting on Sunday at 1:00 pm.

The Violets have been led all season long by co-captain Cami Crawford. The senior leads the Violets in goals (10), points (22) and game-winning goals (4). She also leads the UAA in goals and is fourth in points. Fellow senior co-captain Phebe Miller has also been a leader for NYU. The Violet defender has anchored a back line that has allowed just 3.78 shots-on-goal per game.

"We are very excited to have been selected for the Tournament," said fourth-year NYU Head Coach Michele Canning. "The rest of the staff, myself, and all of the players are looking forward to the preparation for our next game."

NYU is one of a record-breaking six UAA programs to qualify for the tournament. The other five are #4 Carnegie Mellon University, Brandeis University, #11 University of Chicago, #17 Washington University-St. Louis, and #24 Emory University.
