Men's Volleyball Records Victory Over Cairn

Violets Snap Six-Match Losing Streak

The New York University men's volleyball team snapped its six-match losing streak with a 3-1 victory over Cairn University on Saturday, March 23, in Hoboken, NJ.

Facing the Highlanders (7-16) on a neutral site at the Stevens Institute of Technology, the Violets (10-11) captured the match in four sets: 25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 25-13. 

NYU recorded a season-high 14.5 blocks, with Phil Bueno totaling a team-best nine. He added four kills, an assist and a dig for the Violets.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- George Koch totaled a career-best eight blocks to go along with his seven kills, five digs and a service ace.

- David Lauer had a match-high 13 kills on .435 hitting. He added nine digs, three service aces, three blocks, and two assists.

- Nick Capriccio contributed eight kills, five blocks and a .429 hitting percentage.

- Andrew Quirk led the way with 17 digs.

- Connor Mortland had a match-high 32 assists while adding four digs and a service ace.

- Noah Prickett led Cairn with 13 kills.

"We played with great fervor and spirit today," said Head Coach Jose Pina. "We had a strong blocking game, and many of the guys really stepped up."

The Violets return to action this Tuesday, March 26, when they face NYU-Poly in Brooklyn, NY, beginning at 7:00pm.
