The #8 New York University men's volleyball team fell in a tough four-set match to #2 ranked Springfield College on Wednesday, March 13, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
The Violets (9-6) came out strong to take the first set 25-20, but dropped the next three sets to the Pride (19-3) 25-18, 25-20, 25-21.
The Tear It Up! event drew a large crowd of over 200.

Nick Capriccio had an impressive night for NYU with 10 kills on 14 attempts for a .714 hitting percentage.

Nick Benson and
Keith Waddell totaled 11 and 14 kills, respectively.

Phil Bueno and
Colin LaPorte each contributed six kills.

Connor Mortland paced the Violets' offense with 44 assists.
-Greg Falcone led the Pride's offense with 12 kills on 14 attempts for an impressive .857 hitting percentage.
“Overall, I'm happy with how we performed," said Head Coach
Jose Pina. "It was a good match but we became predictable towards the end and had some breakdowns with passing. Springfield received serves better than us, allowing them to use their middle attack more.”
Next up, the men will go on a road trip to Santa Cruz, CA, for match-ups against Stevenson University and UC-Santa Cruz on Thursday and Friday, March 15 and March 16.
