Women's Fencing Team Earns Victory at Tufts

Sweep in Foil Leads NYU to 14-13 Victory

Audra Fox went 3-0 in foil to help NYU secure a close victory

Results

The New York University women's fencing team earned a 14-13 victory during a visit to Tufts University on Saturday, February 2, in Medford, MA.  

Despite losing in two of the three weapons, the Violets were sparked by a 9-0 sweep in foil en route to the victory.

Highlights

-Audra Fox, Kelly Morris and Rebecca Popkin each went 3-0 to lead NYU to the sweep in foil.

-Jackie Leval went 2-0 in sabre, while Kelsey Gibson also earned a key victory, giving the Violets enough points to secure the win.

-Christiana Lai and Jess Sherman each earned a victory in epee.

The matchup against Tufts was a tune-up for the Violets as they prepare for further competition in the New England area this weekend.

NYU returns to action on Sunday, February 3, when it competes in the Eric Sollee Invitational, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA. Other schools expected to compete include Duke University and Boston College.
