Men's Volleyball Falls in Four to Princeton

The New York University men's volleyball team fell in four sets to Division I Princeton University on Saturday, February 16, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
 
The Tigers (4-2) won 25-17, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21 over the Violets (6-3), who are ranked #7 in Division III by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Two of NYU's three losses have come against Division I foes.
 
Highlights
 
- Nick Benson led all players with 14 kills. Drew Steiner was next for the Violets with eight kills to go along with four digs.
 
- Connor Mortland doled out 40 assists from the setter position and added four digs and two blocks.
 
- With his older brother playing for the opposition, Keith Waddell recorded a match-high 11 digs and added seven kills and a block.
 
- Nick Capriccio notched six kills and three blocks, while Dylan Ramey tallied six digs.
 
- Pat Schwagler (13 kills) and Cody Kessel (12 kills) paced Princeton's attack. Davis Waddell recorded 33 assists and five digs at setter.
 
“We had some inconsistencies, but we showed progress,” said Head Coach Jose Pina. “Our team keeps getting better and we are cutting down on mistakes. The way we are progressing right now bodes well for the rest of the season.”
 
NYU is back on the court on Thursday, February 21, when it travels to Vassar College for a United Volleyball Conference (UVC) contest. First serve in Poughkeepsie, NY, is at 7:00 pm.
