The seventh-ranked New York University men's volleyball team improved to 4-1 in the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) with a sweep of Bard College on Thursday, February 14, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
The Violets (6-2, 4-1) defeated the Raptors (1-10, 0-5) 25-20, 25-13, 25-21.
Nick Benson and
Keith Waddell led the way with nine kills each.
Highlights
- NYU got 15 different players onto the court as it was able to use several different lineups. Despite the shuffling, the Violets hit a season-high .373 for the match.
- After the first set, Benson slid from hitter to setter and added 18 assists and three blocks to his nine kills.

Connor Mortland and
Ryan Sharp also saw time at setter. Mortland had 11 assists in the first set and Sharp had seven in the third.

Drew Steiner totaled six kills on just nine swings, while
Nick Capriccio recorded five kills on seven attacks.
- On defense,
Andrew Quirk had seven digs, while Waddell totaled five digs and four blocks to go along with his nine kills.
“Overall, I was very happy with how we played, and getting a conference win is the most important thing,” said Head Coach
Jose Pina. “In set two, especially, our guys were on, our offense was strong and we served smart. We're going to try to keep getting better so that we peak at the UVC Tournament in April.”
NYU returns to the court on Saturday, February 16, when it hosts Division I Princeton University at Coles. First serve is at 7:00 pm.
