New York University's men's and women's fencing teams will return to action on
Thursday, November 7, when they compete in dual meets against Drew University and Stevens Institute of Technology in the home opener of the 2013-14 season at the Coles Sports Center.
The Violets kicked off last season against the Ducks and the Rangers, as well. Both NYU teams dominated in the competition, with the men's and women's squads each pulling off a pair of victories. The men posted a 20-7 win over Drew and a 15-12 win against Stevens, while the women defeated Drew 22-5 and snuck by Stevens 14-13.
The women's team ended last season with a 9-16 overall record and the men's team ended at 7-16. The Violets fencing programs capped off the year with an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
This year's home opener is scheduled to begin at
5:00 p.m. Thursday, followed by the annual Alumni match at 7:00 p.m. Results and recaps will be available following the meet at gonyuathletics.com.
