Invitational Results
The New York University men's fencing team hosted the NYU Invitational on Sunday, January 27, at the Jerome Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
The Violets had strong showings against Division I competition, as they cruised past Wayne State University 23-4 en route to a 1-5 finish on the day.
NYU was defeated by its other five opponents. The Violets fell to Ohio State University, St. John's University and Yale University, each by the score of 19-8. The team also lost to the University of Notre Dame 21-6 and the University of North Carolina 16-11.
Highlights:

Andrew Kelly had the best winning percentage for NYU. He won his first seven bouts, including a 3-0 mark against the top ranked team in the country, Ohio State. Kelly finished with an overall record of 11-5 in sabre.

Phil Jamesson tied Kelly for the most victories with 11. Overall, he went 11-6 in foil.
-In NYU's victory over Wayne State, the Violets received dominant performances in all three weapon categories. The Violets went 8-1 in foil and epee, while also going 7-2 in sabre.

The Violets return to action with a busy weekend in New England. First, NYU will compete against Tufts University on Saturday, February 2. On the following day, the team will compete in the Eric Sollee Invitational, hosted by MIT in Cambridge, MA.
