The New York University men's volleyball team lost its season opener 3-0 to Division I Harvard University on Saturday, January 19, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
The day after sweeping the Violets' (0-1) United Volleyball Conference (UVC) rival Stevens Institute of Technology, the Crimson (2-0) did the same to NYU. Harvard won the three sets against the Violets 25-21, 25-13, 25-22.
Highlights
- In his collegiate debut,
Keith Waddell led NYU with six kills. He added three digs.
- Another freshman,
Colin LaPorte, recorded five kills and three digs.

Nick Capriccio notched three blocks in the middle.

Connor Mortland tied two Crimson players with a match-high seven digs. He added 16 assists, three kills and two blocks.
- Harvard's Nick Madden had a match-best 13 kills, while Rob Lothman totaled 20 assists and four digs.
“It was a good performance for our first match,” said Head Coach
Jose Pina. “Our freshmen gained valuable experience they can build upon. We are still building team chemistry and working through different lineups.”
The Violets return to the court on Saturday, January 26, when they travel to Mahwah, NJ, to take on Ramapo College. The match begins at 2:00 pm.
