Junior Daniel McKinney and freshman Jon Simon were the Violets' representatives at the IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Princeton University in Princeton, NJ, on Saturday, May 12.

McKinney was up first, competing in the 400 meters.

Facing mainly NCAA Division I opponents, McKinney ran in heat six (of seven), and finished fourth. His time of 48.96 left him 34th overall.

"Dan was in lane eight, which means he never saw anyone until late in the race," said head coach Nick McDonough. "It was extremely hard for him to pace the race out."

Simon was up next in the 100 meters. Also facing mostly Division I opponents, he finished third in his heat with a time of 10.80, just .04 seconds off his season best.

Simon took 20th place overall (of 46 runners).

"Jon really stepped up and ran tough at his first IC4A, the biggest Division I meet of the outdoor season on the east coast," McDonough explained.

Several Violets will return to the track this Monday, May 14, at the Swarthmore Last Chance Invitational in Swarthmore, PA, in pursuit of qualifying times for the NCAA Division III Championships later this month..
