The sixth-ranked New York University men's volleyball team is hoping to break its two-match losing streak this weekend at the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Crossover #2, which is being hosted by Nazareth College in Rochester, NY, on Saturday-Sunday, March 10-11.
NYU is currently undefeated in conference play, sporting an impressive 6-0 record to along along with its 12-4 overall mark.
Looking to bounce back from consecutive five-set road losses against top-five non-conference opponents, the Violets face their first test of the weekend against D'Youville College. That match is scheduled for 1:30 pm on Saturday. The Spartans (6-10, 3-4) currently sit in fourth place of the UVC Western Division and are coming off a five-set victory over rival Elmira College.
Elmira is NYU's second opponent on Saturday, with the match slated for a 6:00 pm start. The Soaring Eagles (15-9, 5-2) are in third place in the UVC Western Division.
The final match of the road trip is scheduled for 11:15 am on Sunday against Penn State University-Behrend. The Lions (4-13, 2-5), like the Violets, are in their first season of UVC play. The squad sits in fifth place in the UVC Western Division.
The Violets control their own destiny in their quest to capture the UVC regular-season title and earn the right to host the UVC Championship, as they are the only remaining undefeated team in conference play. Having the Conference Championship at home would be a huge boon for NYU, which is currently undefeated at the Coles Sports Center this season.
