UVC Regular-Season Title on the Line for Men's Volleyball Tear It Up!

Violets Can Clinch Title, Right to Host with Victory over Stevens

All NYU students at the game will receive the Tear It Up! tie-dye shirt above.
The regular-season United Volleyball Conference (UVC) title will be on the line for the final Tear It Up! of 2011-12, as the #6 New York University men's volleyball team faces the #5 Stevens Institute of Technology in a huge showdown on Wednesday, March 21, at the Coles Sports Center.

The Tear It Up! event starts at 6:45 pm, 15 minutes prior to the start of the match between the first-place Violets (17-6, 9-0) and the second-place Ducks (19-4, 9-1). The winner of the match will clinch the UVC regular-season title and the right to host the UVC Championship tournament in three weeks. The winner of the UVC Championship will earn an automatic bid to the inaugural NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship.

In an extremely evenly-matched series, NYU and Stevens have split their last 14 meetings dating back to 2003. The Violets have won two in a row against the Ducks, but Stevens has won the last two contests played at Coles. This match will be the first between the teams as conference foes, as NYU joined the UVC this season in the conference's second year of existence.

All NYU students in attendance for the match will receive free food and t-shirts. Students should arrive early to take part in all of the festivities.
