The New York University men's volleyball team ended its two-match losing streak with back-to-back, straight-set victories over D'Youville College (25-19, 25-20, 25-16) and Elmira College (25-16, 25-17, 26-24) in the first day of the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Crossover #2 on Saturday, March 10, at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.

NYU improved to a perfect 8-0 in conference play and 14-4 overall.

NYU went with a mix of its usual starters with a few reserve players in the first match of the day. Nick Capriccio was the only Violet with double-digit kills in that match, totaling 10 on 18 attempts with just two errors.

Matthew Coghlan also filled up the stat sheet, recording six kills, eight digs and a perfect 1.000 serving percentage. Karl Johnson led the match with 20 assists on 45 total sets.

The Violets went with their normal starting rotation for the second match minus one usual starter. With Luke Hamlet not making the road trip, it was Rochester native George Koch who stepped up at middle blocker, recording nine kills and seven total blocks.

Taylor Fauntleroy dazzled in the nightcap with a match-high 19 kills.

Capriccio added eight kills on nine attacks in the second match.

A key indication of the team's play on Saturday was that Connor Mortland recorded 49 assists in just 84 total sets, giving him a setting percentage of .583.

The final match of the road trip is scheduled for 11:15 am on Sunday against Penn State University-Behrend. The Lions (4-13, 2-5), are also in their first season of UVC play.

Box scores of both matches are expected to be added to the story later this evening.
