The New York University men's and women's fencing meet scheduled for this Thursday, November 8, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan has been cancelled.

Both would-be opponents, Stevens Institute of Technology (Hoboken) and Drew University (Madison), are located in New Jersey, which along with parts of New York City, Long Island and the entire metropolitan area suffered the brunt of Hurricane Sandy's destructive path.

Also cancelled was NYU's annual fencing alumni event.

Make-up dates for all these events are being considered.

The competition was scheduled to begin at 5:00pm.
