New York State Challenge Results
The New York University women's volleyball team finished an impressive 3-1 following a win over Mount Saint Mary College and a loss to Clarkson University on the second day of competition at the New York State Challenge on Saturday, October 27.
The Violets hosted the tournament at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan on Friday and Saturday.
NYU honored its two seniors
Kaylee Schanda and
Alexis Schwartz, during a ceremony before the Mount Saint Mary Match.
Alexandria Mao was named First Team All-Tournament, while
Hope Bogle was named Second Team All-Tournmant.
After winning its first two matches on Friday, NYU (17-14) swept the Knights (21-10) 25-13, 25-21, 25-20 in its first match on Saturday. In the final match of the Challenge, the Violets fell to the Golden Knights (26-6) in four sets, by a score of 25-12, 25-15, 21-25, 25-23 in a highly competitive match.

- The victory was the fourth in the last five matches for the Violets.

Nicole Frias and Mao each paced NYU with 10 kills. Frias committed only one error for a .600 hitiing percentage, while Mao contributed a career-high 17 digs.
- Bogle led the way with a match-high 24 assists.
Emily Moore also had double figures with 11.
- Schanda recorded a match-best 14 digs.

Allie Williams tallied four service aces.
NYU vs. Clarkson Highlights:
- NYU out-attacked Clarkson by a total of 139-126.
- Mao recorded another double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs.
- Frias continued her hot play with eight kills and just one error for a match-high hitting percentage of .500.

Vera Shulgina had six kills and six digs.
- Schanda had a team-high 18 digs.
- Bogle (14) and Moore (13) combined for 27 of the team's 33 assists.
“Hopefully we can build upon our success from this tournament and ride this momentum through the UAA Championship,” said NYU Head Coach
Jolie Ward. “I am very proud of our freshmen. They helped provide us with a stable offense and defense throughout the weekend.”
The Violets have the week off before they travel to Atlanta, GA, to compete in the UAA Championship, hosted by Emory University on November 2-3. The Violets are scheduled to play three matches in the tournament.
