The New York University men's volleyball team knocked off Hunter College in straight sets on Wednesday, March 9, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
The Violets (11-6), currently ranked #5 in the AVCA Division III Top 15 Coaches Poll, hit .348 in the 3-0 (27-25, 25-20, 25-16) victory over the Hawks (15-12).
Leading the offense for NYU was captain
Fran Hodgson, who put down a team-high 11 kills and hit .471 while also picking up three blocks.
Also in double digits in the middle was
Nick Capriccio, who notched 10 kills while hitting a team-high .500 with two blocks, including a solo.
On the outside,
Pat Dodd also hit .500 while adding 10 kills and two service aces.
Taylor Donovan totaled five service aces, helping NYU record a season-best 11 as a team.
Eric Barty led Hunter with 15 kills and a .542 hitting percentage. Stanley Martinez added 26 assists and three blocks, while Braien Otsla had a match-best seven digs.
The Violets return to action on Sunday when they take on Division I rival Princeton University at Coles. First serve is set for 4:00 pm.
