Men's Volleyball Upends Top-Ranked Springfield

Violets Pull Off Five-Set Victory on the Road

Behind a career-high 27 kills from Taylor Fauntleroy, the New York University men's volleyball team knocked off top-ranked Springfield College on the road in five sets on Sunday, March 27, in Springfield, MA.

The Violets (16-7), currently tied for fourth in the AVCA Division III Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll, recorded a .306 hitting percentage while out-killing the top-ranked Pride (12-11) 65-59 in the 3-2 (27-25, 19-25, 26-24, 24-26, 16-14) win.

Along with his career night on offense, Fauntleroy tallied a match-high 14 digs along the back line for his second double-double in three matches.

Also continuing his hot streak on offense was middle Nick Capriccio, who put down 14 kills while hitting a team-high .545 on the night.  

On the outside, Pat Dodd recorded his fourth double-digit kill performance in as many matches, putting down 10 kills and adding six digs.

Setter Connor Mortland recorded the fifth double-double of his young career, putting up 53 assists while also adding 11 digs on defense.

Also recording double digits on the back line was libero Jay Hayes, who notched 11 digs on defense.

For the Pride, Alberto Bravo led the way with 24 kills while Nick Ferry added 11 digs.

The Violets return to action this Wednesday when they return home to take on Division I and EIVA Hay Division rival New Jersey Institute of Technology in the quest to remain in the EIVA playoff race. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
