Team will face #9-Ranked Duke University.

The New York University men's fencing team will compete at the MIT Invitational on Sunday, February 6, in Cambridge, MA.

The Invitational field features six teams, all of which received votes in the most recent Men's USFCA Coaches Poll.  The slate of teams set for action on Sunday includes Duke University (which placed ninth in the poll). The University of North Carolina, Brown University, NYU, Brandeis University, and the host school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, also earned votes in the Coaches Poll.

NYU and MIT are classified as Division III universities, while the other squads represent Division I institutions.

Thus far in the 2010-11 season, NYU sports a record of 4-9.  In the Violets' last competition, at the NYU Invitational on January 22, the men's team lost four of five matches, knocking off Wayne State University by a bout record of 21-6.

The team features fencers in each weapon who bring especially impressive records into Sunday's Invitational.  Phil Jamesson is 26-9 in foil, Hugo Rodrigues is 17-14 in sabre and Byron Neslund is 9-6 in epee.

Following the MIT Invitational, NYU returns home on Feb. 9 to face traditional foes Columbia University, Sacred Heart University and Vassar College at the Coles Sports Center.
