Putting together one of its most dominant offensive performances of the season, the New York University men's volleyball team knocked off third-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology in four sets on Wednesday, February 23, in Hoboken, NJ.
After splitting the first two sets, the Violets (9-4), currently ranked #7 in the AVCA Division III Men's Coaches Top 15 Poll, took over the match, outkilling the Ducks (12-4) 28-13 over the final two sets on their way to a 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 25-9) win.
Leading the offense for the Violets was
Pat Dodd, who put down a season-high 17 kills while hitting .379. On defense, the junior had five digs while also notching a team-best two service aces.
Captain
Fran Hodgson also put together a strong match on offense, tallying 12 kills and hitting a match-high .500. At the net on defense, the senior also led the way with six blocks, including two solos.
On defense,
Luke Hamlet led all players with eight digs while also putting back three blocks and adding six kills.
For the Ducks, SteFan PremDas recorded 12 kills and five digs to lead the team.
The Violets return to action on Friday when they host Carthage College at the Coles Sports Center. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
