Overpowered by strong serving, the New York University men's volleyball team was toppled by Juniata College in straight sets on Saturday, February 12, in Huntingdon, PA.
The Violets (6-4, 0-3 EIVA Hay), currently ranked #5 in the AVCA Division III Men's Coaches Top 15 Poll, could not get anything started on offense against the second-ranked Eagles (10-5, 3-0 EIVA Hay) in the Hay Division match, as they were outkilled 39–28 in the 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-19) in the match.
Leading the offense for NYU was Taylor Fauntleroy. He put down 12 kills while also contributing a service ace and an assisted block.
On defense, Jay Hayes recorded eight digs in two sets, while Luke Hamlet contributed five along with three kills.
For the Eagles, Alex McColgin put down 14 kills and hit .455, while John Almquist added nine digs and 33 assists.
The Violets return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 16, when they continue their EIVA Hay Division schedule with a trip to Newark, NJ, for a match against the New Jersey Institute of Technology. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
