Senior Posts Fifth-Best Time in Division III

Lee broke his own steeplechaae record on Monday night.

Senior captain Calvin Lee broke his own team 3,000-meter steeplechase record and posted the fifth-fastest time in the event in Division III this season as the Violets competed at the Swarthmore Last Chance Invitational on Monday night.

Lee's performance clinched a spot in the event at the upcoming NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held May 27-29 in Berea, OH. He ran a best-ever 9:09.31 on Monday and won the 10-man competition.

Ryan Boyd, who came into the evening with the 11th-best time in the event (9:15.84) ran 9:20.72 on Monday and finished third.

Sebastian Schwelm won the 10,000 meters with a personal-best time of 30:40.25, the 14th-fastest time in the nation this season.

Matt Turlip ran a season-best time of 1:54.18 in the 800 meters, while Dylan Karten ran a personal-best 14:54.87 in the 5,000 meters and James Patterson did likewise in the 1,500 meters (4:02.51).

There was no team scoring at the meet.
