Men's Volleyball Drops Match to Springfield in Straight Sets

Violets Fall 3-0 to the Molten Championship-bound Pride

The New York University men's volleyball team fell to Division III rival Springfield College in straight sets on Saturday, April 3, at the Blake Arena in Springfield, MA.

The Violets (4-17) closed out the road portion of their 2010 schedule by falling 3-0 (30-20, 30-22, 30-19) to the second-ranked and EIVA Division III champion Pride (16-8).

Leading the offense for NYU was junior captain Fran Hodgson, who was the only Violets in double figures with 11 kills.  The middle also hit a team-best .556 while adding three blocks, including a solo.

On defense, junior captain Ori Oren dug up six balls in two sets of play while also putting up 23 assists.

For the Pride, AJ Nally tallied a match-high 16 kills. Alberto Bravo added eight digs and 11 kills.

The Violets return to the Coles Sports Center for their final two matches of the 2010 campaign.  On Saturday, April 10, NYU will host Division I Harvard University at 3:00 pm for Family Day.  The team will then close out the season the following Tuesday, April 13, when they take on Division I New Jersey Institute of Technology at 7:00 pm.
