Men's Volleyball Stumbles Against Juniata

Violets Drop to 1-4 in 2010 After 3-0 Loss

Despite putting two players in double-digits on offense, the New York University men's volleyball team fell in straight sets to EIVA Division III rival Juniata College on Saturday, February 6, at the Kennedy Sports and Recreation Center in Huntingdon, PA.

The Violets (1-4), currently ranked #9 in the AVCA Division III Men's Coaches Poll, struggled both serving and passing against the top-ranked Eagles (2-3), falling 3-0 (30-23, 30-23, 30-22).

One of the lone bright spots on offense for the Violets was sophomore Ryan Limb, who tallied a match-high 11 kills while hitting .471 with four blocks (including two solos).

Also in double-digits on offense for NYU was freshman Cooper Gwaltney, who also tallied 11 kills while adding two service aces and three digs.

On defense, sophomore captain Jay Hayes tallied a team-high five digs.

For the Eagles, Zach Wanner put down 10 kills while hitting .400. Chris Vrooman led all player with seven digs along with four service aces and four kills.

The Violets return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 9, when they travel to Princeton, NJ, to take on  EIVA and Division I foe Princeton University.  First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
