Men's Volleyball Falls to Juniata at Coles

Violets Fall 3-0 to the Top-Ranked Eagles

Sophomore Pat Dodd tallied eight kills, six digs and two blocks against Juniata.

The New York University men's volleyball team fell in straight sets to Division III rival Juniata College on Saturday, February 27, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

The Violets (2-9), currently ranked 11th in the AVCA Division III Men's Coaches Top 15 Poll, got off to a slow start, hitting negative in the first set against the top-ranked Eagles (5-6), and could not recover, falling 3-0 (30-14, 30-25, 30-20).

Leading the Violets on offense was sophomore Pat Dodd. who tallied a team-high-tying seven kills. He was also a bright spot on defense for NYU, putting up a team-best six digs along with two blocks.

Also with seven kills was freshman Cooper Gwaltney, who also added two digs and a block.

Strong at the net was sophomore Ryan Limb, who put back a team-high four blocks while also adding four kills.

For the Eagles, Zach Wanner led all players with 11 kills. Anthony Damiano added a match-high 12 digs.

The Violets will return to the court on Tuesday, March 9, when they travel across the Hudson River to take on EIVA Hay rival Rutgers-Newark University.  First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
