Box Score

The New York University men's volleyball team dropped the season series to Division III rival Juniata College, falling in straight sets in their second meeting of the season on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Kennedy Athletic Center in Huntingdon, PA.

The Violets (3-13), currently ranked #10 in the Bison/AVCA Division III Men's Coaches Top 15 Poll, were defeated by the second-ranked Eagles (8-4) 3-0 (30-26, 30-24, 30-19).

NYU started the first two sets in strong fashion, holding slim leads of 11-10 in the first and 11-9 in the second.  However, both times the Eagles responded with runs to take control of the sets, holding leads of at least two the rest of the way on their way to 30-26 and 30-24 victories.

Juniata carried its momentum into the third set, taking an early two-point lead, 10-8, and never looking back, winning the clinching set 30-19.

The Eagles produced a 47-39 kills advantage and also out-blocked the Violets 11.5-6.5.

Senior captain Devin Zolnowski continued to put up big numbers for NYU, putting down a match-high 15 kills while also adding a match-high 11 digs for his fourth double-double of the season.  Zolnowski is now just 200 kills behind all-time NYU rally-scoring leader Macnair Sillick, who totaled 1,242 in his career.

For the Eagles, sophomore Chris Vrooman led the charge on offense, putting down 14 kills while junior Zach Wanner tallied nine digs and six blocks on defense.

The Violet return to action on Monday when they travel to East Stroudsburg, PA, to take on Hay Division opponent East Stroudsburg University.  First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
