Box Score

After seizing a quick 1-0 advantage, the New York University women's soccer team withstood a furious push by Emory University and settled for a 1-1 tie against its University Athletic Association (UAA) rival Friday evening in Atlanta.

NYU (8-4-1, 0-2-1 UAA) controlled the action early, pressuring the Eagles (4-2-5, 0-1-2 UAA) in their final third until Erica Jones' career-best fifth assist of the season set up Emily Jenkinson's fourth score this fall, making it 1-0 at the 12:09 mark.

However, the Violets' hopes of earning their first-ever win over Emory were dashed when the Eagles pressured the NYU backline. Melanie Levy finally netted the equalizer, converting a Talia Dweck pass at 76:37 to make it 1-1.

Emory hit the post in the 89th and 97th minutes, respectively, but despite owning a 21-11 edge in shots, could not pull ahead. The Eagles fired off two shots in the final minute of the second overtime, but Rachael Ross (4 saves) stopped an attempt by Hailey Morris and a Dweck shot sailed wide just before the game ended.

Kirsten Baecher made five saves for Emory, which owned a 5-3 edge on corner kicks.

NYU concludes its UAA road trip Sunday, Oct. 18, with a 1:30 p.m. contest in Pittsburgh against Carnegie Mellon University.
