Five different players found the back of the net, including three in the final 5:42, as the New York University women's soccer team fended off Vassar College, 5-1, Friday afternoon in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Sophomore Filiz Kipcakli contributed a goal and two assists, all during the final minutes, as the Violets (5-2) pulled away to win their fifth consecutive contest.

"To have five different players score goals is great," NYU head coach Werner T. Dasbach said.  "It was a great effort.  We played with a great spirit."

Senior Sarah Pillemer opened the scoring 11:04 into the action, taking a thru-ball from sophomore Emily Jenkinson and beating the defense along the endline before burying her team-best fifth goal of the season.

Jenkinson made it 2-0 at 40:03 after NYU capitalized upon a failed Vassar (3-2) clearance attempt.  Freshman Erica Jones started the scoring sequence by hitting a wide ball to junior Erin Twomey, who threaded the ball across the box for Jenkinson, who one-timed it home off her left foot for her fourth goal this season.

Vassar pulled within 2-1 on a tally by Allison McManis at 59:36, but the Violets kept pushing the action until sophomore Laura Palumbo hit the back of the net at 84:18 off a nifty pass from Kipcakli.

After Kipcakli beat Brewers' goalkeeper Anne Hutchinson (9 saves) one-on-one at 85:22 to make it 4-1, she took a shot from the top of the box that Hutchinson could not corral.  Junior Lucy Dolly Caires proceeded to bang home the rebound to close out the scoring.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Walters improved to 5-1 after making two saves for the Violets, which led 28-9 on shots and 12-2 off corner kicks.

NYU returns to action Sunday, Sept. 21, when it hosts Wilkes University at Manhattan College's Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.  Game time is set for 10 a.m.
