Women's Soccer Falls to Emory

The New York University women's soccer team fell to Emory University 4-1 in a University Athletic Association (UAA) match-up at the College of Staten Island on Sunday.

Sophomore Filiz Kipcakli scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season at 86:02, blasting a pass from junior Megan Murray into the far right corner of the net,  But, it was not enough for the Violets (10-7-0, 2-4-0 UAA), who were already down by four goals.

The Eagles (14-3-1, 5-1-0) recorded an own goal and the only goal of the first half when an NYU defender attempted to clear the ball after a free kick at 12:54.  Starting the second half up 1-0, Emory notched three more goals to secure the win.  Olivia Lezanski knocked in a free kick from Talia Dweck. Joyce Lam scored off of Alyssa Perez's free kick, and Alexa Wahr connected on a free kick from Kerri Lydon.

Emory took 22 shots on the day—13 shots on goal—and had five corner kicks.  NYU sophomore Alex Walters (10-6-0) recorded eight saves, while freshman Rachael Ross, playing in her third game of the season,  made one save.  NYU totaled nine shots and five corner kicks during the contest.

Sarah Wilkerson (14-3-1) made two saves and allowed just the one goal for Emory.

The Violets wrap-up their regular-season by hosting Brandeis University next Saturday, Oct. 8, at 11:00 am at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.
