The New York University men's tennis team captured a 4–3 win over Haverford College on Saturday, April 11, in the Bronx, NY.
In doubles play, the Violets earned two victories to secure the doubles point.
The No. 2 duo of Jeh-Lei Fan and Shido Ito earned a 6–4 win, while the No. 3 pair of Boris Slesarev and Louis Frowein also captured a victory with a matching score of 6–4.
NYU maintained its lead by winning three out of the six singles matches.
At No. 1 singles, Niklas von Hellens won with a score of 6–1, 6–2. Bryan Hui followed with a 6–3, 6–4 victory at No. 2. To clinch the overall win for NYU, No. 3 Frowein delivered a 6–1, 6–1 victory.
"A great win for the guys," said Head Coach Horace Choy. "We played them in a fall tournament where they got the better of us, which shows how far this team has come. The 4-3 score was a little deceptive; we were able to win the doubles point with wins in three close sets. We put the top four singles out and we put the match away with quick wins by Louis, Bryan, and Nik. Louis dominated his match staking us to a 2-0 lead and the other gave us an insurmountable 4-0 lead. Looking forward to senior day tomorrow."
The Violets will return to action on Sunday, April 12, when they host Salisbury University on Senior Day in the Bronx, NY.
