The No. 2-ranked New York University women's golf team is set to begin play at the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship on Tuesday, May 19th, at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, CA.
The championship field features 34 teams and six individuals competing over 72 holes across four days. After the first 36 holes, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and the top six individuals not on advancing teams. The lowest four scores each day count toward the team total.
The Violets earned the Liberty League's automatic bid into the NCAA Championship after capturing the conference title earlier this month. NYU has remained among the nation's top-ranked teams throughout the season and enters the championship as the tournament's No. 2 overall seed.
NYU's lineup includes Tiya Chowdary, Naomi Tan, Sonia Hao, Inha Jun, and Jiayi Fu.
Fu was named the Liberty League Player of the Year, while Jun earned Rookie of the Year honors. Both golfers were selected to the All-Liberty League First Team alongside Hao, Tan, and Chowdary.
Several Violets have also earned national recognition from the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). Fu and Tan were named WGCA First Team All-Americans, while Jun and Hao earned Second Team All-American honors. Fu was also selected to the WGCA All-Freshman Team, and head coach Brad Johnson was named the WGCA East Region Coach of the Year. In addition, Fu, Jun, Hao, and Tan were all named to the WGCA East All-Region Team.
The Violets have put together an outstanding spring season against nationally-ranked competition, highlighted by victories at the Jekyll Island Invitational, the Stith Invitational, and the Jack Leaman Invitational before capturing the Liberty League Championship earlier this month. Chowdary was named the UAA Championship MVP and earned a spot on the UAA Championship All-Tournament Team, while Fu earned three UAA Athlete of the Week honors and three Liberty League Performer of the Week selections during the year.
