Brooke Batchelor Earns Weekly Accolades From UAA and MBWA

Junior Guard Honored Following Impressive Weekend

Brooke Batchelor of the #1-ranked New York University women's basketball team has earned weekly honors from the University Athletic Association (UAA), as well as the Metropolitan Basketball Writer's Association (MBWA). She was named both the UAA Athlete of the Week and MBWA DII/III Women's Player of the Week.

The accolades come after Batchelor led the Violets to another pair of wins this past weekend and kept NYU's 80-game win streak in tact. The junior guard averaged 25.0 points on 66.6 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from three-point range, and 100 percent from the foul line over the two-game stretch, lifting the Violets past Case Western Reserve University and Carnegie Mellon University on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

Against the Spartans, she scored 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field, including 2-of-5 from three-point range, and added six rebounds, an assist and two blocks.

Then, in Sunday's win, Batchelor topped that with a career-high 28 points on 12-of-19 from the field, 2-of-4 from three and 2-of-2 from the foul line while also contributing two rebounds, an assist and two steals. She scored 14 of the NYU's 20 points in the third quarter, while her jumper with 3:12 left in the game tied the score at 53-53 and the Violets never trailed again.

NYU will take the court again this weekend with games against CWRU and Carnegie Mellon on Friday and Sunday, respectively. With two more wins, the Violets will break the Division III record for most consecutive wins, currently standing at 81.
