Members of the New York University men's tennis team finished the TCNJ Lions Tournament against players from The College of New Jersey on Sunday, September 21, in Ewing, NJ.
The no-team-scoring contest included singles and double matches. The Violets walked away victorious in one doubles matches and in four of the nine singles matches.
Both Shido Ito and Kaustav Guttikonda won their two matches on Sunday, as they combined to win 8-3 in doubles. The former won 7(7)-6(5), 6-1 in singles while the latter finished 6-3, 3-6, 10-5.
Two other Violets came out victorious in their solo matches: Boris Slesarev won 5-7, 6-2, 10-6, while Andy Chen won 8-6.
"A good effort across the board," Head Coach Horace Choy said. "It was a lot of tennis today and we struggled a little bouncing back and maintaining consistency."
The Violets return to the court for the Swarthmore/Haverford Invitational beginning on Saturday, September 27, in Swarthmore, PA.
