Women's Golf Tied For Second at Tartan Invitational

Two Violets Finished the First Round Under Par

The New York University women's golf team returned to action on Monday, October 6, for the first round of the Tartan Invitational. 

The two-round tournament is hosted by Carnegie Mellon University at Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, PA.

After 18 holes, the Violets are tied with Emory University in second place, matching a team score of -4.

Host Carnegie Mellon leads the competition with a team score of -5. 

Tiya Chowdary led the Violets with a two-under par 70. She recorded three birdies and one eagle on the day.

Southern Virginia's Sydney Richards and Carnegie Mellon's Emma Wong lead the way at -6. 

NYU's Inha Jun and Jiayi Fu are both tied for 11th with matching scores of one-under 71. 

Naomi Tan is tied for 18th place, shooting even-par which included three birdies. 

Kelly Jing is also competing for NYU and shot 76. 

Overall, 16 teams and 84 golfers are competing.

The Violets play the final round on Tuesday beginning at 8:30 am.
