The #2 ranked and undefeated New York University men's swimming team finished out its dual meet season with a 131-112 win over Division II West Chester University in West Chester, PA on Saturday, January 25.
The victory brings the Violets' record to 8-0 going into the UAA Championships in February.
"It was a hard-fought meet, and every swimmer stepped up when it mattered most," said Head Swimming Coach
Trevor Miele. "Finishing the season undefeated is a huge accomplishment, and I couldn't be prouder of their effort and determination."
Maksym Nechydyuk, Jaeden Yburan, and Victor Derani took home first, second, and third place in the 200-yard IM.
"Their race was unbelievable — it was neck and neck the entire way, showcasing their competitiveness," said Miele.
Ajay Watanakun won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events.
"He dominated the sprint events, taking wins against a top-tier sprinter," said Miele. "It gave us the momentum we needed."
Nechydyuk and Youngsoo Ahn-Song placed first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke.
"They sealed the victory with an incredible 1-2 finish," said Miele. "They both swam great races and got the win."
William Hopkins placed second in the 3-meter dive.
"The men had a little bit of a tough meet on the 1-meter, but Will came back with a solid 3-meter sneaking into second place by a point," said Diving Coach Todd Kolean.
The Violets will return to the pool for the UAA Championships in Atlanta, GA, February 12-15.
"The team's effort and drive throughout the meet were amazing," said Miele. "Now, we shift our focus to preparing for the UAA Championships, where I'm confident we'll build on this momentum and continue to deliver great performances."
