The New York University men's tennis team completed competition at the two-day College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Invitational on Sunday, September 15 in Ewing, NJ.
A total of 11 Violets competed against host TCNJ tand played 13 matches, four singles and nine doubles.
The Violets fell short in their four doubles match-ups, but responded by winning six of the nine singles matches.
Zachary Freier and
Jingyuan Chen had strong matches, winning their singles matches (6-3, 6-3) and (6-4, 7-5), respectively. All-American
Boren Zheng won his tight singles contest 6-4, 3-6, 10-5.
Other singles winners were
Jingyuan Chen,
Bryan Hui,
Tomas Medina, and
Ronak Khara.
"Our players competed hard and came away with some well-deserved wins," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "We had a lot of positives coming out of today and look to carry it into next week's play."
The Violets return to the courts on Saturday, September 21, for a two-day invitational hosted by Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA.
