The New York University men's track & field team traveled to Pittsburgh, PA, to began competition at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships hosted by Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday, April 27.
Emmanuel Brito is advancing to the final sections of the 100- and 200-meter dashes tomorrow. His sixth-place finish in the 200 notched him a new personal best of 22.00. He clocked 11.04 to take eighth place in the 100.
Julian Aske finished fourth in the preliminary round of the 800-meter run, qualifying for the final section with his time of 1:52.35.
Ryan Tobin took fifth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 31.36.03.
Daniel Lee achieved a new top mark in the shot put, finishing 11th and throwing 12.50m.
In the 100,
Travis Perry notched a new personal best with his 11.60 finish.
The men's 4x800-meter relay team consisting of
Jake Chang,
Jorge Rocha,
William Cornick, and
Samir Hussain posted a sixth-place finish with a time of 7:58.74. The squad established a new season best in the event by over thirty seconds.
The Violets are currently tied with Brandeis University for sixth place in team scoring, with both teams posting seven points. Host Carnegie Mellon is currently in first with 84 points.
NYU will kick off the second and final day of competition at the UAA Championships tomorrow, Saturday, April 28th, in Pittsburgh, PA. Action is set to begin at 10:00 AM.
