Nalinda Wanikpun of New York University's women's golf team won the individual title at SUNY Cortland's Martin & Wallace Invitational on Sunday, April 14, at the Cortland Country Club in Cortland, NY.
Yesterday's opening round was canceled due to rain, so the event was abbreviated to a single-round tournament. NYU totaled 302 strokes to take second place, five behind leaders Williams College and just one ahead of third-place Amherst College.
Wanikpun was the only golfer to finish under par, as her one-under 71 was a stroke better than the duo tied for second.
Irene Park was also among the top five, tying for fifth place after carding a 74.
Michelle Zhou (76) tied for 16th and
Tiya Chowdary (77) tied for 18th.
Madison Phung (78, T21st),
Yu Young Chung (79, T25th) and
Summer Yang (79, T25th) were also in action for the Violets.
There were 15 teams and 85 golfers at the tournament.
NYU returns to the course on Saturday, April 20, for round one of the Jack Leaman Invitational in Amherst, MA.
