New York University's
#3-ranked women's swimming & diving team opened its 2024-25 season with a 176-124 victory over NCAA Division I Fordham University on Saturday, October 19, in the Bronx, NY.
NYU won 10 of the 16 events.
The Violets were led by standout NCAA Division III Swimmer of the Year
Kaley McIntyre, who secured three individual victories. She kicked off her impressive day by winning the 200 freestyle in 1:53.56. McIntyre captured the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.05 and finished strong by taking first in the 100 freestyle at 53.03.
"The women dominated from the start and kept getting stronger," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "It was great to see our returners excel and the newcomers step up. We have more training ahead, but starting with a win over a Division I team is a great bonus."
University Athletic Association (UAA) 400-Yard Medley Relay Champion
Anna Li, also shined for NYU, winning both the 100 breaststroke (1:05.48) and the 200 breaststroke (2:23.05), while NCAA 200 Butterfly National Champion

The Violets' divers also competed on Saturday.
Maya Williams (258) and
Meera Kasturi (255.15) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the one-meter dive. In the three-meter dive, Williams (252) took fifth place.
"We dove well top-to-bottom," said Head Diving Coach
Todd Kolean. "It's challenging against a Division I team that's been training longer. But, I was pleased with how solid our divers were at this point in the season."
The Violets will return to the pool next Saturday, October 26, when they face Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, beginning at 12:00pm.
