Head coach
Dave Klatsky has announced six newcomers who are set to join New York University's men's basketball team this coming season.
Four first-years and two graduate transfers make up Klatsky's incoming recruiting class as he prepares for his second season at the helm of the Violets.
Year one was exceptional for Klatsky as he led NYU back to national prominence, finishing 18-8 for the most wins by a first-year head coach in program history. NYU was picked to finish last in the UAA's Preseason Coaches Poll and proceeded to place fourth with a 7-7 league record, earning the team's most Association victories since 2015-16 and finishing .500-or-above in the league for the first time since that year as well.
The Violets also made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015-16 while Klatsky became the second NYU head coach to ever win University Athletic Association (UAA) Coaching Staff of the Year.
The six newcomers join a squad with a large group of returners, including 2022-23

Transfers
Emmanuel Onuama | Previous School: Columbia University | Hometown: Aguleri, Nigeria | 6-8 Center
Klatsky on Onuama: "Emmanuel joins us as a graduate transfer from Columbia University where he majored in political science. Originally hailing from Nigeria, we are thrilled to keep Emmanuel in NYC for the pursuit of his graduate degree at NYU. Emmanuel will provide a presence in the middle immediately, bringing a tremendous motor and ability to rebound the ball with him to the Violets. Emmanuel's experience at the collegiate level will be instrumental in helping him contribute right away."
Konrad Kiszka | Previous School: Princeton University | Hometown: Newtown, PA | 6-7 Wing/Forward
Klatsky on Kiszka: "Konrad joins us as a recent graduate of Princeton University, fresh off a Sweet 16 berth in the DI NCAA Basketball Tournament. Konrad is a wing/forward who brings poise and high IQ to the forward position. At 6-7, he can handle the ball, make good decisions and step out and hit the three. Being part of a winning program at Princeton, we are excited for Konrad to bring pieces of that winning culture and togetherness to the Violets."
First-Years
Hampton Sanders | Lawrenceville Academy (NJ) | AAU: NJ Bulldogs | Hometown: Dayton, NJ | 5-10 Guard
Klatsky on Sanders: "Hampton is electric! His ability to see the floor and find open teammates is elite. He joins us from Lawrenceville Academy in the always-competitive MAPL League where he garnered First Team All-MAPL this previous year. Hampton will provide us with another guy who can handle point guard responsibilities, but also showcase the ability to score when the game calls for it."
Flynt Whitworth | Tabor Academy (MA) | AAU: Middlesex Magic | Hometown: Zionville, NC | 6-2 Guard
Klatsky on Whitworth: "Flynt joins us from the NEPSAC, arguably the most competitive prep league in the country. A budding track star as well, he brings athleticism to the guard position that will translate immediately. Flynt can be an asset on the ball with his IQ and decision making, but also play off the ball as a slasher or shooter."
Alan Mashensky | Choate Rosemary Hall (CT) | AAU: Above n Beyond | Hometown: Brooklyn, NY | 6-7 Forward
Klatsky on Meshensky: "Alan, hailing from just across the river in Brooklyn, spent his final two high school seasons at the prestigious Choate Rosemary Hall which also competes in the NEPSAC. He was a significant contributor to helping Choate land the #3 seed in the Class A playoffs. Alan, standing at 6-7, will provide some help in the frontcourt. He has tremendous touch around the rim, but is also capable of stepping out and knocking down the three ball."
Jonathan Sigurdsson | Brunswick School (CT) | AAU: New Heights Lightning | Hometown: Scarsdale, NY | 6-10 Center
Klatsky on Sigurdsson: "Jonathan completes the trifecta of NEPSAC players joining us next year in the freshmen class and will add some much needed depth at the center position. His ability to rebound and defend around the rim will be key components to helping the team this year and in coming years. Jonathan also brings international experience to the squad as he won gold with the U18 USA Maccabi team in Israel last summer and will compete with the Icelandic U20 team at the FIBA European Championships this summer."
