In a dominating performance, both the New York University Men's and Women's Swim Teams completed its two-day meet by easily defeating Stevens Tech. The two-day, home-and-home event was completed on Friday, January 14, at NYU's Palladium Athletic Facility Natatorium.
The men's final score was 216-91, while the women were victorious by a score of 215-80.
NYU won all of the events and spread the wealth throughout the lineup.
"I was very impressed by today's performance," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "They swam great on the back end of a two-day meet."
Among the men's individual winners were
Graham Chatoor in the 500 freestyle (4:33.48),
Gavin Egerton in the 400 IM (4:03.65) and
Jacob Haines in the 200 breaststroke (2:05.85).
Ethan Zheng captured both the 100 backstroke (52.87) and the 200 backstroke (1:51.80).
"I swam surprisingly better than I thought I would today, which is a good sign going into the end of the season," Zheng said. "It was fun to see my teammates swim so fast after a hard month of training. There was a great amount of energy among us."
On the women's side,
Jolie LeFauve won both the 100 breaststroke (1:10.36), the 200 breaststroke (2:31.59) and was a member of three first-place relays. Other individual winners included
Emily Ma in the 200 backstroke (2:07.17),
Kyra Chen in the 500 freestyle (5:13.51) and
Caitlin Marshall in the 200 butterfly (2:06.93).
"We had a great meet after some tough training over the break," Ma said. "It was great to have the team all together and supporting each other."
The teams return to action for the MIT Tri-Meet on Friday, January 21, in Cambridge, MA.
