The New York University women's tennis team defeated William Smith College 8-1 on Saturday, April 13, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx.
With the win, the Violets' season record stands at 7-1, while the Herons drop to 9-5.
In doubles play, the women won all three matches.
Coco Kulle and
Fleura Shiyanova won the #1 match 8-1,
Anna Maria Buraya and
Judy Kam won the #2 match 8-5, and
Rupa Ganesh and
Alice McGinty won the #3 match 8-5.
The Violets continued their strong play in singles. Buraya won the #1 match 7-5, 6-2, Kulle won the #2 match 6-0, 6-0, Shiyanova won the #3 match 6-2, 6-0, Ganesh won the #4 match 6-1, 6-1, and Kam won the #5 match 6-1, 6-0.
"The team played well from start to finish," said Assistant Coach
Jennifer Kellner. "It was good to see them get off to a better start in the doubles this weekend."
The Violets return to action tomorrow when they face Rochester at 12 PM at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx.
