Team Results
The New York University men's swimming and diving team won the NYU Fall Invitational with 474 points, defeating Princeton University (264), the Stevens Institute of Technology (208) and Drew University (151) in a meet held on Friday and Saturday, November 8-9, at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan.
Top performers for the Violets included
Josh Rine (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek), who won the 200-yard backstroke event with a time of 1:54.35. In the 1,650-yard freestyle,
Graham Chatoor (Glencoe, Trinidad/International School of Port Spain) finished first with his time of 16:02.69. Fellow Violet
Macarthy Adelman (Darnestown, MD/Northwest) won the 100-yard freestyle with his mark of 47.73.
"The team has been working really hard this season to prepare to swim fast in a few weeks at Ithaca," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "This meet was a big part of our preparation and I was really happy with their effort and results."
In the diving portion of the meet, NYU's
Cole Vertin (San Jose, CA/St. Francis) continued his strong campaign by winning the three-meter board with a total score of 323.25.

Nick Lemieux (Eagan, MN/Eagan) and
Hunter Whitbeck (Acton, MA /Acton-Boxborough Regional ) all gained their second regional qualifying scores," said Head Diving Coach
Todd Kolean. "
Jack Callaghan (Palo Alto, CA /Palo Alto ) reached his first score, as well."
To be eligible for the regional championships a diver must hit the qualifying score twice, utilizing either board.
The Violets return to action on Saturday, November 23. The diving team will be participating at the United States Merchant Marine Academy Open in Kings Point, NY, while the swimming team will host Johns Hopkins University at the Palladium Athletic Facility.
