The New York University women's golf team finished second out of 11 teams at the Tartan Invitational at Laurel Valley Golf Course in Ligonier, PA, on Tuesday, October 8.

Following Monday's first-round cancellation, only scores from Tuesday's round counted towards final standings. The Violets finished with a combined score of 317, just four more than host and tournament winner Carnegie Mellon University, who shot 313.

Ashley Lung (Henderson, NV/Coronado) led the way for NYU, finishing with a tournament-low score of 73 (+1).

"Ashley played really well and we were up against some very strong competition from around the country," said Head Coach Brad Johnson.

Arisa Kimura (Bethesda, MD/Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart) also had a strong day, as she finished seventh individually with a score of 77 (+ 5).

"We are in a good position heading into our home tournament this weekend," Johnson added.

The Violets wrap up the fall portion of their schedule Saturday and Sunday, October 12-13, at the NYU Invitational at Forest Hills Field Club in Bloomfield, NJ.
