The New York University men's tennis team broke its four-match losing streak after a commanding 6-3 triumph over The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ, on Sunday, April 8.
This victory is the Violets' (3-4) first since February 25, while this loss is the Lions' (6-3) first since March 28.
Fueled by their disappointment over Saturday's 9-0 loss to Brandeis University, the NYU men came out attacking in the doubles round.
Umberto Setter and
Zeb Zheng (#1) dueled their opponents to a tight 8-6 victory.
Vishal Walia and
Rahul Das (#3) put up a good fight as well, prevailing over the opposition 8-5.
The Violets carried their energy into the singles round where they took four of six matches. Setter (#1) won in his usual dominant fashion (6-3, 6-1), while
Michael Li (#3) won his first singles match since February 25 (6-2, 6-4). Walia at #5 (7-5, 6-4) and
Joshua Piatos at #6 (6-4, 6-3) finished the job for NYU after winning a couple of very close matches.
"It was a good bounce-back win for our men," said Head Coach

The revitalized Violets return to the courts to face Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, on Wednesday, April 11, at 3:00 pm.
