The New York University men's volleyball team returned to action for the first time in eight days when it played at Stevens Institute of Technology in a United Volleyball Conference (UVC) match on Wednesday, February 28, in Hoboken, NJ.
The Violets (7-5) showed their rust in falling to the Ducks (13-3) in four sets (26-28, 25-20, 26-22, 25-19).
In the first set, NYU overturned a 20-14 deficit with seven straight points and ultimately won 28-26.
The Violets nearly took a two-set advantage and were tied 17-17 in the second set, but Stevens closed the set on an 8-3 run to even the match.
NYU nearly came back from a 19-10 deficit in the third, with
Evan Lindley contributing three consecutive kills to drag the Violets back to within one point (22-21), but the Ducks were able to hold on for a 25-22 victory.
Stevens fell behind 4-3 in the fourth set, but quickly regained the lead and never relinquished it en route to a 25-19 match-clinching win.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Lindley led all players with 15 kills and added eight digs and a service ace.

Alex Li recorded 12 kills, six digs, three service aces, and two assists.

Matin Bikdeli led all players with 35 assists and contributed two kills, three digs and one block.

Ethan Talkov recorded a game-high eight blocks and added four kills.
The Violets return to action this Friday, March 2, when they host SUNY Poly at the Brooklyn Athletic Facility. First serve is set for 7:00pm
