The New York University men's tennis team hosted Vassar College and defeated the Brewers 8-1 on Sunday, February 25, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx.
The Violets are now 2-0 this season, while Vassar is 5-3.
In doubles play, the Violets took two out of three matches from Vassar behind wins from
Michael Li and
Joshua Piatos (8-1) in #2 doubles, and
Rahul Das and
Vishal Walia (9-8) in #3 doubles.
"Today we had a bit of a slow start, but we managed to bring good energy to the end of doubles and into singles," said Assistant Coach
Ben Lee.
NYU swept all six singles matches.
Umberto Setter (6-1, 6-1) in #1 singles, Das (6-4, 6-4) in #2 singles, Li (6-0, 6-2) in #3 singles, Walia (6-2, 6-3) in #4 singles,
Yanik Parsch (6-1, 6-1) in #5 singles, and
Stefan Rodic (6-3, 6-2) in #6 singles all recorded victories.
"I think we have some good momentum to bring into next week's matches," concluded Lee.
The Violets are back on the court Saturday, March 3, at 11:00 am against Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.
